Bursting white blossoms of the Marri tree

It takes about seventeen months from the time of flowering to fruiting with “honkey nuts” and a Marri tree might only fruit once every three years. Primary food source for the Red tailed cockatoos, and they are highly nutritious; 100 a day will keep a bird well nourished. In contrast to that, they need 1,000 Jarrah nuts a day to get the same food value. Its common name "Marri" is from the Nyoongar word for blood - applying to the gum.
